The Buzz: FansProject Assaulter, Win a SDCC Shockwave/Destro set & more

We're a week and a half out from New York Comic Con and there's sure to be some sweet reveals for the coming year. But before that news starts trickling in, I'm taking a little time today to cover some interesting items from around the 'net.

Jump ahead to read about some Third Party toy news and how you can win a SDCC Shockwave H.I.S.S. tank!

First up, congratulations are in order for Philip Reed of BattleGrip and Transforming Collections for the successful completion of his Third Party transforming toy guide funded via this Kickstarter page last month. The project reached it's goal more than six times over, unlocking several cool bonuses for backers. I chose the "Bloggers-in-Arms" reward level which includes a Third Party toy review by Phil on the Hive. I'm looking forward to it and having the book in hand. Stay tuned!

In more 3rd party news, FansProject (see a listing of my reviews here) have unveiled new pictures of the next figure in their Warbot series, Assaulter, which seems to be a massive toy. I own the first figure in the series, the "G1" Springer homage named "Defender", and was happy with him all though a few issues made me hesitant in picking up the second release, Steel Core. Thankfully, all of his reviews have been resoundingly positive, so I'm going to try to pick him up when he's re-released. Regarding Assaulter, I'm not sure, yet. He looks awesome, specially next to the other Warbots, and it seems like he'll include miniature vehicle versions of Defender (in both modes) and Steel Core, but I think I'll have to wait for pricing on him before making a decision.

Finally, Toy News Insternational is holding a Facebook contest where one winner will receive the very popular (and sold out), Transformers/G.I. Joe Shockwave H.I.S.S. tank with Decepticon Destro and Constructicon B.A.T. figures (photos at Needless to say, I already entered. Head over there for your chance to win one if you were unable to secure one at SDCC, or in my case, had it sell-out on Hasbro Toy Shop before you could even login.
